Strict action by the Director General of Police has sent strong signals across the police department in Telangana. In a significant development, three police officers working under the Warangal Police Commissionerate have been suspended for allegedly exceeding their legal authority and involving themselves in civil and land-related disputes.
Based on reports submitted by senior officials, Shivadhar Reddy, Director General of Police, ordered the suspension of a former Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandiram Nayak, CCS Inspector Gopi, and Sub-Inspector Vithal. The action followed complaints that false cases were registered at Mattewada Police Station, leading victims to approach the courts and higher authorities.
The suspensions have created ripples within the department, particularly as allegations point to certain officers acting under the influence of political leaders, interfering in civil disputes, and involving themselves in land settlements and real estate dealings. Officials say such conduct has continued irrespective of changes in government, with some officers maintaining close proximity to political figures.
Sources indicate that similar complaints have emerged from areas beyond Warangal, including Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally districts. Allegations also include collusion in illegal sand mining and transportation. Vigilance reports and inputs from intelligence wings have previously led to action by senior officials, and the recent DGP-level intervention has heightened scrutiny.
Following the suspensions, several officers facing allegations are reportedly seeking transfers or attempting to avoid further action. An internal circular issued recently has warned police personnel against interfering in civil disputes, land issues, or informal settlements, stating that violations will invite strict disciplinary measures. Officials say further action against more officers cannot be ruled out in the coming days.
