The Delhi High Court has issued notices to Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha and other respondents in the Delhi liquor policy case. The CBI has approached the High Court challenging the trial court's verdict acquitting 23 accused, stating that there was no proper evidence in the charge sheet filed by the CBI in this case. The High Court, which took up the matter, imposed a temporary stay on some of the comments made in the trial court's verdict.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the CBI, said that the liquor policy case is one of the biggest scams in the history of Delhi. He said that there is evidence that Rs 100 crore was given to the AAP party, some of which was used for the Goa elections through hawala. However, the CBI argued that the trial court had released the accused without proper investigation. The High Court has adjourned the further hearing in the case to the 16th of this month.
