The Delhi High Court has rejected Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav’s request for more time in a cheque bounce case, following which he surrendered at Tihar Jail. Speaking to jail authorities, the actor reportedly cited severe financial difficulties, stating that he had no money and no friends to support him, leaving him with no option but to surrender. He also clarified that he had decided not to seek help from anyone in the film industry.
The case was filed by Murli Projects Private Limited against Rajpal Yadav and his wife over alleged non-repayment of a loan and bounced cheques. A Delhi Magistrate Court in 2018 sentenced him to six months in jail, a verdict upheld by the Sessions Court in 2019. Although the High Court granted interim relief in 2024 and advised settlement, the actor failed to fulfil his repayment assurances, prompting the court to issue final orders.
