The Hyderabad–Chennai Bullet Train Corridor has been realigned with a new route, replacing the earlier Shamshabad–Suryapet–Khammam stretch. The revised alignment will now pass through Shamshabad, Bharat City, Dry Port, Haliya, and Wadapally. This strategic change is expected to improve connectivity while addressing logistical and land acquisition challenges.
With the new alignment, the project length in Telangana has been significantly reduced from 236 km to 123 km, leading to a substantial decrease in land acquisition requirements. Four stations have been proposed in the state at Bharat City, Dry Port, Haliya, and Wadapally, with three of them located in the erstwhile Nalgonda district. Officials stated that the Dry Port station will play a crucial role in facilitating customs clearance for exports and imports, especially for landlocked Telangana.
