The disqualification case of Telangana MLAs who defected to other parties is set for a crucial hearing in the Supreme Court on November 14. Earlier, the apex court had granted a three-month deadline to the Telangana Assembly Speaker to make a decision on the matter. That deadline ended on October 31. However, the Speaker’s office filed a petition seeking more time, citing the need to complete the hearing and collect explanations from the concerned MLAs.
The Telangana Assembly Secretary filed this petition on October 25, requesting an extension for completing the disqualification process. The case is now scheduled to be heard by a bench led by the Chief Justice of India on November 14. It remains to be seen whether the Supreme Court will grant more time or pull up the Speaker’s office for not adhering to the earlier deadline.
Political observers say the outcome of this hearing could significantly impact Telangana’s political landscape.
