Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that India's first bullet train will be launched on August 15, 2027. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the high-speed train on Independence Day. He revealed that in the first phase, the bullet train will operate between Surat and Bilimora.
He added that subsequently, bullet train services will be launched in phases on the Vapi-Surat, Vapi-Ahmedabad, and Thane-Ahmedabad routes. Finally, the full Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train service will be made available, and a dedicated high-speed corridor is being constructed for this purpose, the Railway Minister explained.
