A protest was held at the Gymkhana Grounds in Hyderabad against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), led by the Sports Student Federation and several cricket associations. The protestors alleged injustice towards sportspersons and misuse of funds by private individuals. They demanded that the ₹68.73 crore (nearly ₹70 crore) transferred to Visaka Industries be taken back immediately. Police arrested the protestors during the sudden demonstration.
Cricket associations also tried to stop the HCA press meet, alleging that ₹70 crore was released to Visaka Industries under the instructions of a minister. However, HCA President A. Jagan Mohan Rao Amarnath strongly denied the allegations. He stated that he had not signed any cheques after taking charge and had no role in the ₹69 crore payment. He clarified that the payment process began before he assumed office and that the amount was paid following court orders.
