In Amaravati, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the “Divyang Shakti” scheme to provide free bus travel for differently-abled individuals. He, along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh, travelled with beneficiaries from Mangalagiri to Penumaka, covering around 11 km. During the journey, they interacted with passengers to understand their welfare needs and the impact of government schemes.
The initiative enables free travel for eligible individuals across various APSRTC bus services, including city and rural routes. It covers people with more than 40% disability across 21 categories and is expected to benefit around 12.76 lakh individuals, including assistants. The state government plans to spend approximately ₹207 crore annually on this scheme, aiming to improve accessibility, promote equality, and boost confidence among differently-abled citizens.
