The suicide of a BJP municipal councillor candidate has triggered political tension in Makthal municipality of Narayanpet district, Telangana, ahead of the municipal elections. Mahadevappa (48), a resident of Chandapur village and BJP candidate from Ward No. 6, allegedly ended his life, creating shock among local residents and political circles. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Reacting to the incident, BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao expressed deep anguish and extended condolences to the bereaved family. He alleged that Mahadevappa’s death was the result of threats, intimidation, and pressure from Congress leaders and their supporters, including accusations against local minister Sridhar. Claiming that BJP candidates were targeted after the party’s rally gained momentum, Rao demanded the immediate arrest and removal of the minister from the cabinet and called for a fair and impartial investigation, warning of statewide protests if justice is not delivered.
