Senior Maoist leader Barse Deva has surrendered before the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP). Along with him, 15 other Maoists have also laid down their arms and surrendered to the authorities. Barse Deva, who previously served as the Chief of the Guerrilla Liberation Army, has emerged as a key figure within the Maoist organization following the Hidma encounter. He has been overseeing the operations of the Maoist party’s armed wing.
Officials have identified that both Hidma and Barse Deva belong to the same village in Chhattisgarh. Barse Deva is reported to have played a crucial role in supplying weapons to Maoist cadres. His group was taken into police custody yesterday from the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border region. Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy is scheduled to disclose the complete details of Barse Deva’s surrender to the media on Saturday.
