In the tragic plane crash that occurred in Baramati, Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others lost their lives. Among the deceased was Captain Sumit Kapoor, who was serving as the Pilot-in-Command of the ill-fated aircraft. According to his friends, Sumit was not originally scheduled to operate the flight that day but was called in at the last minute due to unavoidable circumstances.
As per the initial schedule, the designated pilot reportedly got stuck in heavy traffic, following which Sumit was urgently assigned the duty just hours before take-off. He departed from Mumbai at 8 a.m., unaware that he would lose his life within an hour. Sumit had recently returned from Hong Kong and was known for his vast flying experience. While investigation agencies suspect possible pilot error, his friends strongly believe he was highly skilled and capable of handling any situation. They have demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the crash.
Captain Sumit Kapoor, 62, hailed from Delhi and completed his schooling at Air Force Bal Bharati School. He later underwent advanced aviation training in Canada and worked with airlines such as Sahara Airlines and Jet Airways. For the past five years, he had been serving with VSR Aviation. With over 15,000 flying hours to his credit, he was considered one of the most experienced pilots in the industry. Notably, his son and son-in-law are also professional pilots.
