

Balaji Medamalli was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the High Court on Thursday. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur in Court Hall No.1. The appointment orders issued by President Droupadi Murmu were read out by Registrar General Parthasarathi during the ceremony.
Following the oath-taking, Justice Balaji joined Justice Ravinath Tilhari in hearing cases. With his appointment, the total number of judges in the High Court has risen to 33.
The event was attended by High Court judges, registrars, advocates, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas, Additional Advocate General Sambasiva Pratap, Public Prosecutor Menda Lakshminarayana, Additional Solicitor General Challa Dhananjaya, Bar Association representatives, court staff, and family members. Several well-wishers congratulated Justice Balaji on the occasion.
Born into an agricultural family on May 29, 1972, in Shesannagaripalli village of Rajampet mandal in YSR Kadapa district, Balaji completed his schooling in Rajampet and graduated from Sri Venkateswara Arts College, Tirupati. He later pursued his law degree at Padala Rama Reddy Law College in Hyderabad.
He is the first lawyer in his family. After completing apprenticeship in 1997, he enrolled with the Bar Council on April 9, 1998, and began practice under senior advocate Gudapati Venkateswara Rao. He has handled constitutional, civil, criminal, service, and commercial matters extensively.
Between 2004 and 2006, he worked with the Advocate General’s office. During 2018-19, he served as Standing Counsel for the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and also represented several banks and reputed institutions.
He is survived by his wife Kalyani, son Suchandrahass, and daughter Lakshmi Swetha.
