A significant development has emerged in the Tirumala adulterated ghee case. Acting on the instructions of the Supreme Court, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), operating under CBI supervision, has taken two key accused A16 Ajay Kumar Sugandh and A29 Subramanyam into custody today.
The SIT will interrogate them until the 12th of this month and record their statements on several crucial aspects of the case.
With the arrest count rising to 12, anxiety has grown among TTD employees. Preliminary findings revealed that Ajay Kumar Sugandh of Bholebaba Dairy supplied ghee made entirely with chemical substances, without purchasing even a drop of milk.
Former TTD Procurement General Manager Subramanyam is accused of accepting large bribes to grant tenders to ineligible dairies. The SIT’s remand report states that he received gifts such as a silver plate, a Samsung phone, and cash amounting to Rs. 3.5 lakh from dairy owners.
Despite the Mysuru laboratory confirming that Bholebaba Dairy’s ghee was adulterated, Subramanyam allegedly suppressed the report and influenced the technical committee to issue favourable findings. He was earlier arrested in Tirupati and produced before the Nellore ACB court.
