The upcoming epic film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is generating considerable discussion over its reported budget of around Rs. 4,000 crore. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. During the film’s trailer launch event in Bengaluru on October 15, Yash addressed criticism over the repeated discussion of the production budget during promotions. He explained that sharing the scale of the investment is important when introducing Indian films to international audiences.
Yash said that presenting a film as a low-budget production could affect how overseas audiences perceive it. He argued that Indian filmmakers should confidently communicate their investment, technical expertise and creative ambitions, rather than underestimate their own achievements. According to him, Ramayana should be viewed not merely as an expensive film but as an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of Indian cinema on a global platform. The film also features Ravi Dubey and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles, with music by A.R. Rahman. The epic is planned as a two-part production, with Part One reportedly scheduled for release during Diwali.
