Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has reaffirmed the Tata Group’s commitment to developing industries and capabilities that India needs, even if the process takes longer than expected. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026, he said the country has a clear direction, defined needs and the ability to execute its ambitions. Chandrasekaran highlighted India’s strong talent pool, large domestic market and capacity to build critical industries, emphasising the importance of sustained efforts towards nation-building.
Chandrasekaran also underlined the growing importance of semiconductor chips as advanced manufacturing expands globally. He said India is well positioned to strengthen its role in the global semiconductor industry, supported by its skilled workforce and substantial domestic market. However, he cautioned that businesses must carefully assess demand and manage investments prudently as the sector grows. Developing the technological capabilities required by the country, he indicated, will remain important even when achieving those goals requires a long-term commitment.
