Mass-action entertainers have consistently been the source of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja's greatest success. He occasionally attempts to adopt various, performance-based roles, but those endeavors are rarely successful. Every time he tried something different, from "Naa Autograph" to "Eagle," the outcomes weren't what he had hoped for.
With "Mass Jathara," a full-length mass movie, he is now returning to his comfort zone. It's interesting to note that Ravi Teja was originally slated to star in Tamil star Dhanush's Telugu debut film, "Sir." The story was actually written with Ravi Teja in mind by director Venky Atluri. However, Venky had to proceed with making the movie with Dhanush since Ravi Teja was unable to assign dates due to his hectic schedule. According to reports, Ravi Teja had no regrets about losing the project. He is even reported to have said that Dhanush was the ideal candidate for the part. Ravi Teja remained true to his word and publicly acknowledged that the movie might not have been as successful if he had acted it, even after it was released.
Ravi Teja seemed to enjoy the story when it was first told to him, but he informed Venky that he didn't have any dates at the moment and asked if the team could wait. "Go ahead — and I'm happy you're doing it with Dhanush; he'll be amazing," Ravi Teja said in response to Venky's statement that he would proceed if another actor became available. This subject was brought up once more in a recent interview with Venky Atluri and director Bhanu Bhogavarapu (of Mass Jathara fame). Venky said that Sir might have worked out even better with Ravi Teja, but Ravi Teja respectfully responded that Dhanush was a better fit for the movie and did the part justice.
