Vishwak Sen, popularly known as Mass Ka Das, has built a distinct identity among young audiences through his acting and filmmaking. Falaknuma Das remains one of the significant projects in his career, particularly because he directed the film himself. The Telugu crime drama was based on the Malayalam hit Angamaly Diaries. In a recent podcast, Vishwak shared an interesting behind-the-scenes detail, revealing that he had started filming before securing the remake rights. According to his account, he had already shot two festival sequences in Hyderabad before telling a friend that he planned to travel to Kerala to obtain the necessary rights.
Vishwak also explained that he first showed the story to his family by playing the Malayalam film’s scenes on mute and narrating the plot in Telugu. After winning their approval, he travelled to Kerala and reportedly paid ₹11 lakh to acquire the remake rights. He added that the makers agreed to grant the rights on the condition that Falaknuma Das would not be dubbed into any other language. His account offers a glimpse into the determination and unconventional approach behind the making of a film that helped strengthen his standing among Telugu audiences.
