The Telangana government is preparing the recruitment process for assistant professor posts across seven universities already announced for recruitment. A high-level meeting was held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Monday, October 26, with vice-chancellors and registrars from several universities participating. Education Secretary Yogita Rana and Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Balakista Reddy also attended. The meeting focused on the steps required before issuing recruitment notifications. Officials decided to implement reservations by treating each university as a unit, in line with the latest Supreme Court directions, instead of following the department-wise reservation system used in previous recruitment exercises. Education Secretary Yogita Rana directed universities to submit details of vacant and backlog posts and instructed officials to finalise the reservation roster before releasing notifications.
The meeting also stressed compliance with three government orders already issued on recruitment and the preparation of a standard operating procedure. Two committees are proposed at the university level to oversee and scrutinise the assessment of candidates’ academic abilities, which carries 30 marks. Additional high-level, technical, and guidelines-and-rules implementation committees are planned to ensure transparency throughout the process. Officials also decided to establish a dedicated helpline to receive candidates’ complaints and objections. If grievances cannot be resolved at the university level, a state-level ombudsman mechanism is proposed. Notifications may be issued by the respective universities after the reservation roster is finalised, which is expected within a week. TCS has reportedly been selected as the IT agency for the recruitment process.
