Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has dismissed long-standing rumours that the script of the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise originated from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Bedi clarified that such claims were completely baseless. Referring to one of the franchise’s most popular comedy dialogues, he humorously questioned how anyone could believe that a government office would create such lines. His remarks have since sparked discussion across social media platforms.
Bedi also revealed that Dhurandhar was originally conceived as a serious spy thriller with limited scope for humour. After reading the script several times, he suggested incorporating comic relief to balance the intense narrative. Director Aditya Dhar eventually agreed, and the addition of comedy became one of the franchise’s biggest strengths. Bedi’s character, Jameel Jamali, earned widespread acclaim, while the films starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and others went on to achieve major box-office success.
