The Mummy Star Arnold Vosloo to Make His Tollywood Debut

Vijay Deverakonda is set to appear in a powerful role as Ranabaali from Singanamala in the upcoming Telugu film Ranabaali. One of his major on-screen adversaries will be Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, who gained worldwide recognition for playing the iconic character Imhotep in The Mummy franchise. Vosloo will make his Indian cinema debut with the film, playing the ruthless British officer Sir Theodore Hector. The casting has added considerable international appeal to the project.

Vosloo developed an interest in cinema at a young age, influenced by his parents, who were both stage actors, and his father’s involvement with a drive-in theatre in Alberton, South Africa. Although he appeared in numerous Hollywood productions, The Mummy franchise became the defining milestone of his career. He went on to feature in more than 60 films and television productions, besides working as a producer and lending his voice to video games. For Ranabaali, director Rahul Sankrityan reportedly designed the character of Sir Theodore Hector with Vosloo’s portrayal of Imhotep as a key inspiration. Interestingly, Vosloo has often been mistaken for Titanic actor Billy Zane because of their similar appearance. He is also a dual citizen of South Africa and the United States.
