Tollywood filmmakers have increasingly shown interest in stories rooted in Telangana's culture, dialect and rural lifestyle, believing that audiences connect with such subjects. However, the box-office performance of several films has demonstrated that regional nativity alone is not enough to guarantee success. Movies such as Balagam, Dasara and Tillu Square emerged as major successes, while Pareshan, Pottel, Razakar and Maremma failed to achieve the expected results. Raju Weds Rambai also managed to attract audiences and earn good collections despite its modest budget. Meanwhile, Dhandoraa received appreciation for its content but did not perform as expected in theatres.
Attention has now shifted to Sharwanand's upcoming film Bhogi and Priyadarshi's Idupu Kayitham. While Bhogi is said to be a period mass-action drama, Idupu Kayitham is reportedly a family drama set against a rural backdrop. Both films have generated interest among moviegoers, with their theatrical performance being keenly awaited. The recent trends suggest that Telangana's dialect and cultural setting can certainly help films connect with audiences, but compelling storytelling, emotional depth and entertainment remain the decisive factors in determining their success.
