

Tamil actor Soori’s successful transition from comedy roles to leading-man projects continues with the box office performance of his latest sports action drama, ‘Mandaadi’. According to industry reports, the film has grossed around ₹95 crore worldwide within ten days of its theatrical release and is expected to cross the ₹100 crore milestone today if the current momentum continues. Set against the backdrop of traditional coastal sailboat racing in Tamil Nadu, the film has been receiving attention for its unique sporting setting and Soori’s performance.
Acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran also praised director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi and acknowledged the film’s commercial success. He said that since his days as an assistant director, he had closely followed the box office performance of around 15 to 20 films until his assistants went on to become directors. However, he described ‘Mandaadi’ as the first blockbuster film he had witnessed in this journey and said he was extremely happy about its success.
