The much-awaited Balakrishna film ‘Akhanda 2: Tandavam’, scheduled for release on December 5, was unexpectedly postponed at the last moment. Responding to this, producer TG Vishwaprasad shared an emotional note on social media on Sunday, expressing his disappointment over the sudden halt.
He stated that last-minute disruptions not only affect the film’s team but also impact buyers, exhibitors, producers, and technicians whose livelihoods depend on timely releases. He added that small filmmakers, who carefully plan their release windows to avoid competition with major films, are forced to wait longer due to such unforeseen obstacles. He emphasized the need for immediate, clear legal guidelines to prevent third-party interference in film releases.
Addressing the rumors surrounding the release of ‘The Raja Saab’, Vishwaprasad clarified that all external investments for the film had already been settled using internal funds, and the remaining interest dues would also be cleared soon.
He further wished success for all the films lined up for release in December and those arriving for Sankranti 2026, including ‘The Raja Saab’, ‘Mana Shankaravara Prasad Garu’, ‘Bharta Mahashayalaku Vignapti’, ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’, ‘Naari Naari Naduma Murari’, ‘Jana Nayagan’, and ‘Parashakti’. He reiterated that cinema is not just a business, but a blend of art, culture, and emotion that must be protected.
The makers have already confirmed that Prabhas’ pan-India film ‘The Raja Saab’, directed by Maruthi, will hit theatres on January 9.
