Mythri Movie Distributors LLP has strongly objected to the alleged obstruction of screenings for its latest film Jetly. In an open letter released on Friday, the company claimed that some exhibitors were preventing the film’s release in multiplexes by citing an ongoing dispute involving certain single-screen theatres in Telangana. The company stated that the issue was unrelated to multiplex operations and should not impact the film’s release there.
The letter, issued in the name of partner Kethireddy Shashidhar, said Mythri had respected earlier decisions not to release films in affected single-screen theatres during the dispute over weekly rentals and revenue-sharing terms. However, blocking Jetly in multiplexes was termed unfair and a pressure tactic. The company urged exhibitors to reconsider their stand immediately and allow smooth screenings, while reaffirming its willingness to resolve the single-screen issue through fair discussions.
