The stage is all set for OG, which is releasing tomorrow. Across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, OG will be screened in the maximum number of theatres. Given the hype, the trade is eagerly waiting to see which records will be broken. Meanwhile, Mirai is stepping into its third week from the day after tomorrow. Even after 10 days, the film is recording strong occupancies. The early start of the four-day Dussehra holidays is also turning out to be very favorable. In this backdrop, distributors are ready to continue Mirai into the third week. However, OG’s arrival is creating a break.
Considering the high demand and Pawan Kalyan’s fan craze, producer TG Vishwa Prasad decided to allocate the screens reserved for Mirai to OG on its first day — a very positive move. OG is facing two challenges: one, the hike in ticket prices (for 10 days); and two, the Adults Only certificate given by the censor. So, family audiences might prefer Mirai during the weekend. Also, since Mirai tickets have been priced at normal rates right from release day, it has worked strongly in its favor. That means, for at least another week, Mirai’s theatrical run remains safe.
Still, whatever Mirai’s numbers may be, till the weekend, the box office will be dominated by OG. If positive talk spreads, theatres won’t be enough and buyers will struggle to add extra shows. The fact that Hari Hara Veera Mallu has had zero impact shows the level of OG fever. Songs, trailer, teaser, and the pre-release event all contributed to the hype. Now, movie lovers, fans, and industry circles are waiting with sleepless eyes for tonight’s midnight talk. If the word is good, records will be shattered for sure.
