Hollywood sensation..‘Obsession’ creates a box office tsunami

The psychological horror thriller Obsession has emerged as one of Hollywood’s biggest surprise successes of 2026. Made on a modest budget of just 1 million dollars (around ₹10 crore), the independent horror film has delivered extraordinary box office results worldwide. Directed by YouTuber Curry Barker and starring Michael Johnston and Indie Navarrette, the film was released in the United States on May 15 and received a strong response from audiences.

So far, Obsession has collected over 86 million dollars (more than ₹730 crore) in the United States and Canada. Its worldwide gross has crossed 108 million dollars (around ₹900–950 crore), with trade analysts predicting it could soon reach the ₹1,000 crore mark. Released in India on May 29, the film reportedly earned ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore on its opening day, including previews. The story follows a young man whose wish for his crush’s love leads to terrifying and unexpected consequences.
