Young actress Kashika Kapoor has responded to the frequent criticism and trolling of South Indian actors working in Bollywood due to their Hindi accent. She believes that actors should be seen based on their performance and language or accent should never be a barrier. She made these comments in an exclusive interview with news agency IANS.When asked, "What is your opinion on the accent of South Indian actors working in Hindi films?", Kashika replied, "We keep seeing this happening. But an actor/actress should ultimately be recognized based on their performance. Language should never be a barrier. We should not separate this Telugu film industry and this Hindi film industry."
It is known that actress Rashmika Mandanna has also faced a lot of criticism in her career regarding accent in the past on the show 'Koffee with Karan'. She said that being from the South, her Hindi accent comes naturally, but she will not stop working in different languages out of fear of such criticism. In this context, Kashika spoke, citing the example of Rashmika. "Take Rashmika Mandanna for example. She is an amazing actress and performer. It is not right to judge her based on her accent or language. It is a part of her identity. Her roots are there. She has acted in big films like 'Animal' and has given great performances. Actors should be appreciated for their talent, not their accent," Kashika Kapoor said, expressing her opinion.
