

Renowned composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander has launched a new independent record label, ‘Albukarky Records’ and announced a strategic partnership with Universal Music India. Through this collaboration, Anirudh and other artists’ upcoming projects in popular genres such as pop and hip-hop will gain wider visibility in the South Indian music market. Anirudh himself will feature in the label’s first project, scheduled for release in April.
Over the past 15 years, Anirudh has achieved remarkable success. His viral hit Why This Kolaveri Di earned him global recognition and he has since delivered over 770 songs, amassing more than 13 billion audio streams. On Spotify, he holds the number one position among South Indian artists in terms of total streams. His compositions across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam have become worldwide hits, including tracks like Hukum, Vathi Coming, Arabic Kuthu, Monica, E23 Theme, Aaja Raja and Aiya Share.
Officials at Universal Music India, along with Anirudh, have stated that this partnership aims to promote independent artists and showcase their music on a global stage. The collaboration will provide a significant platform for emerging South Indian musicians while further strengthening Universal Music India’s representation in the pop and hip-hop music genres. Sanujeet Bhujbal, Managing Director of Universal Music India, highlighted that Anirudh has long been a transformative creative force in music, with a vast fan following that avidly engages with his innovative work.
