Drinking aloe vera juice on an empty stomach has become a popular health trend. Many people believe it helps improve digestion, relieve constipation and promote healthy skin. Aloe vera contains certain natural compounds with antioxidant properties that may help protect cells from oxidative stress. However, drinking it on an empty stomach does not necessarily make it more beneficial. Its effects can vary depending on the quantity consumed and the type of aloe vera product used.
Aloe vera juice may contain compounds that help ease bowel movements. However, a substance called aloin, which can be present in aloe products, may cause diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort. Therefore, using aloe vera juice to treat constipation without medical advice is not recommended. There is also a common belief that aloe vera juice helps burn body fat and promote weight loss. However, there is insufficient scientific evidence to support this claim. Maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly and getting adequate sleep are more reliable ways to manage body weight.
Excessive consumption of aloe vera juice may lead to stomach pain, diarrhoea, dehydration and loss of essential minerals. It may also affect blood sugar levels. People taking medication for diabetes and those with kidney-related problems should consult a doctor before consuming it. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to avoid aloe vera juice, particularly products containing aloe latex. Aloe vera juice is not essential for good health, and consuming it without understanding its possible side effects may cause more harm than benefit. Medical advice is important before using it regularly.
