Kriti Sanon’s Challenge Sparks a New Debate in Bollywood

Popular actress Kriti Sanon believes Bollywood needs to take more risks by producing big-budget action films featuring women in lead roles. Sharing her views on the changing trends in Hindi cinema, Kriti pointed out that blockbuster action films like Pathaan and Dhurandhar could also succeed with female protagonists if filmmakers invested the same level of money, effort and creativity. According to her, there is no reason why women cannot headline large-scale commercial action entertainers.

Kriti also believes that audiences are ready to embrace female-led action films, and producers should have the confidence to explore this genre. Her comments have sparked a fresh discussion about the limited number of big-budget action films centered on women in Bollywood. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt recently starred in the female led film Alpha, which failed to make a strong impact at the box office. This has once again raised questions about the challenges female-centric films face in the Hindi film industry.
