Toxic OTT Deal Sparks Buzz After Film’s Underwhelming Box Office Performance

The digital rights of Yash-starrer Toxic have reportedly become a subject of discussion following the film’s box-office performance. According to industry reports, the makers had received an OTT offer of around ₹150 crore before the theatrical release. However, the team is said to have opted to release the film without finalising a digital streaming agreement, leaving the OTT rights to be negotiated after the theatrical run.

With the film reportedly failing to deliver the expected box-office results, speculation has now emerged that the value of the digital deal could have fallen significantly, with reports putting the current figure at around ₹30 crore. A similar situation was reportedly witnessed by the production house KVN with Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan. The film was earlier said to have had a deal worth more than ₹100 crore with Amazon Prime Video, but reports later suggested that the platform stepped away following multiple postponements. The rights were subsequently said to have moved to ZEE5 for around ₹50 crore. Against this backdrop, discussions are now emerging over whether Toxic could follow a similar OTT-rights trajectory.
