Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film journey is not just the story of a star, but a true example of self-made success. He entered the film industry in 1978 with Pranam Khareedu, without any film background. Though his first film failed, his natural acting won appreciation. He gained recognition with Mana Oori Pandavulu and slowly grew by doing small roles and villain characters. In the 1980s, films like Mogudu Kaavali, Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya and Shubhalekha made him popular among family audiences. The 1983 blockbuster Khaidi changed his career completely and turned him into an overnight superstar, giving commercial cinema a new meaning.
At the peak of his career, Chiranjeevi stepped away from films in 2007 and entered politics by launching the Praja Rajyam Party. However, his political journey did not go as expected and he later returned to cinema. After nearly a decade, he made a strong comeback in 2017 with Khaidi No. 150, which crossed ₹100 crore within five days, proving his box office strength. Recently, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, became a major hit and collected over ₹350 crore worldwide, marking another milestone in his career.
Now, Chiranjeevi is said to be focusing on the growing podcast culture in Tollywood. During a recent interaction with the media at his residence, he reportedly spoke about this idea. His daughter Sushmita Konidela and writer-director BVS Ravi are said to be working on the preparations. Chiranjeevi usually avoids speaking much about his past in interviews, but through a podcast, he may share his life lessons, film experiences and personal stories with fans. If this plan becomes a reality, he could become the first Tollywood hero to start a podcast, setting a brand-new trend in the industry.
