As the saying goes, what is meant for you will always come to you; if it’s not yours, even if it comes close, it slips away. In this context, Tollywood star Nagarjuna reportedly missed a major opportunity and social media is a buzz discussing it. Fans are now imagining how the role would have looked if Nagarjuna had played it.
The recently released movie ‘Dhurandhar’ became an unexpected success. There was very little buzz about it before it hit the theaters. It was not released as a pan-India film and was only available in the Hindi version. There were no special ticket promotions either. Even though it released on big screens in early December, it has continued to earn consistently and has now collected around ₹1300 crores. The villain role of Rahman Dakait received exceptional response from the audience. Akshay Khanna delivered a remarkable performance in this role. Interestingly, Nagarjuna was originally considered for the role. Although he liked the script, he had to pass on the opportunity because he was busy with his films ‘Coolie’ and ‘Kuberaa’ at the same time. After watching the movie, no one can imagine anyone else playing the villain except Akshay. It is a performance that truly left a mark. One can only wonder how the role would have looked if Nagarjuna had played it.
Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun played the lead roles, with Aditya Dhar directing the film. The story is based on gang wars that took place in Lyari, Karachi, Pakistan in the 1990s and follows an Indian secret agent sent there. It is being reported that the movie will start streaming on Netflix from January 30. Meanwhile, the sequel of ‘Dhurandhar’ is set to release in theaters on March 19. While the first part was released only in Hindi, the sequel will be released in Telugu and other South Indian languages as well.
