YSRCP Protest Over DSC Irregularities Creates Tension in Vijayawada

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has called for a protest in Vijayawada over alleged irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment process, particularly appointments under the sports quota. The party planned to hold a protest outside the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office on September 21, demanding a thorough investigation and justice for eligible candidates. YSRCP leaders have alleged that ineligible candidates secured jobs using questionable or fake sports certificates, while deserving candidates were denied opportunities. The allegations have been rejected by DSC-recruited sports quota teachers, who have defended the validity of their certificates.

Meanwhile, NTR district police have denied permission for the proposed YSRCP rally and dharna in Vijayawada. DCP Krishnakanth Patil said the decision was based on prohibitory orders already in force under Section 163 of the BNSS and Section 30 of the Police Act, along with ongoing Vinayaka immersion programmes, possible traffic disruptions and a shortage of police personnel. Police warned that legal action would be taken against anyone violating the orders. YSRCP leaders, however, have said they would continue to raise the DSC recruitment issue. Heavy police deployment has been made around the SAAP office and other key points in Vijayawada.
