Want to Change Your FASTag Bank? You No Longer Need a New Sticker

FASTag users across India can now change their issuing bank without replacing the FASTag sticker attached to their vehicle. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced the ‘OneTag’ portability facility, which allows motorists to shift their existing FASTag to another participating bank through the Rajmarg Yatra app. The initiative was launched by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai. Users can retain the same FASTag and switch the issuer after completing vehicle verification, authorisation and onboarding with the new bank.

The portability process is designed to make changing FASTag service providers simpler, similar to mobile-number portability. Participating banks include major lenders such as SBI and ICICI Bank, along with Airtel Payments Bank. The existing wallet is handled by the previous issuer, including applicable refunds, while the new bank takes responsibility for future services. More than 13 crore FASTags have been issued in India, and over 98% of toll collections on national highways are now digital. The government is also working towards barrier-free tolling to further reduce waiting times at toll plazas.
