Following the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant tragedy, authorities have decided to conduct DNA tests if relatives are unable to identify the deceased. KGH Superintendent Dr. I. Vani stated that identification will first be attempted through ornaments and other distinguishing marks found on the bodies. If the victims cannot be identified through these means, DNA testing will become mandatory.
Samples for DNA analysis will be sent to AIIMS Mangalagiri for examination. Officials said the test results are expected to take at least five days. Meanwhile, medical teams are fully prepared to conduct postmortem examinations and complete all necessary procedures in accordance with official guidelines.
