With the number of devotees visiting Tirumala increasing steadily and crossing 80,000 even on regular days, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced a new grading system to improve the quality of services provided by Srivari Sevaks. Around 3,000 to 3,500 volunteers serve devotees every day at different locations across Tirumala.
Under the new system, volunteers will be assessed based on their attendance, performance and the manner in which they assist devotees. Those who perform their assigned duties efficiently and take up additional responsibilities will receive an “Outstanding” grade, while those who perform their duties well will be rated “Excellent”. Volunteers who fail to perform their responsibilities properly will receive a lower grade.
TTD has also appointed Principal Supervisors from serving or retired gazetted officers and officials of higher ranks, including individuals who have held senior positions in banks and prominent organisations. Five Principal Supervisors will work each month, with each overseeing 10 to 15 Group Supervisors. The supervisors will record daily performance details through an app.
Graduates are being selected as Group Supervisors, who will serve for 15 days. Each Group Supervisor will oversee 10 to 15 Srivari Seva teams, with each team consisting of around 10 to 15 members. They will monitor attendance, work performance and the way volunteers interact with devotees and update the details daily. Teams receiving the highest grades will be considered for deployment during Brahmotsavams and other important religious occasions.
