Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been lodged at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since 2023 in connection with several cases, recently met his wife Bushra Bibi and sister Noreen Niazi after a prolonged gap of around nine months. The meeting took place in the jail’s conference room and was reportedly emotional after the couple saw each other following a long period apart.
According to reports, Noreen Niazi spent around 15 minutes with her brother and discussed his health. She also informed him about the Supreme Court’s directions regarding his transfer to Shifa International Hospital for medical examinations. Concerns had grown over Imran Khan’s health after restrictions were reportedly placed on visitors for several months.
The court subsequently allowed family members to meet him once a week and permitted him to speak with his sons over the phone. Jail authorities have also reportedly initiated the legal process for arranging his medical examination at the hospital. Officials kept details of the latest meeting private amid concerns that the interaction could be used for political purposes.
Imran Khan is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi, who is also imprisoned at Adiala Jail, met her children and sister-in-law. She had two children from her previous marriage before marrying Imran Khan.
