Travel to Bhogapuram Airport Takes Over One and a Half Hours

The government is making rapid arrangements to operationalize the Bhogapuram Airport next month, with plans to inaugurate it through Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, passengers from Visakhapatnam will need to travel nearly 50 kilometers to reach the airport. Due to heavy city traffic, the journey currently takes around two hours. Official assessments reveal that despite having multiple routes, travel time exceeds one and a half hours on most roads.

Although alternative routes exist, traffic congestion remains a major challenge. Routes via Hanumanthuwaka, Madhurawada, and Anandapuram take about 1 hour 50 minutes. Travelers from Anakapalli can reach faster via NH-16 bypass due to minimal traffic. From areas like Steel Plant, Gajuwaka, Beach Road, and Bheemili, travel time ranges between 1 hour 35 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes. Officials note that only a few of the roads proposed by VMRDA are likely to effectively ease congestion.
