Idols made from natural clay, red soil and other eco-friendly materials, especially those decorated with natural colours, are considered a better alternative. Avoiding PoP, plastic and harmful chemicals can help reduce pollution caused by idol immersion.

Seed Ganesha and Tree Ganesha idols have also become popular as eco-friendly alternatives. These idols contain plant seeds inside them and are designed so that the clay can be placed in a pot after immersion. With regular watering, the seeds can eventually grow into plants. Such idols allow devotees to celebrate the festival while also contributing to environmental protection.
