The Andhra Pradesh government has revoked the suspension of IPS officers Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni and issued orders reinstating them into service. According to the government orders, Kanthi Rana Tata has been reinstated with effect from September 4, while Vishal Gunni has been reinstated from September 5. The action is linked to the case involving Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani.
Ibrahimpatnam Police had registered a case against Jethwani based on an allegedly forged document. In connection with the matter, former IPS officers P. Sitaramanjaneyulu, Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni were accused of misusing their official positions. It was also alleged that they conspired with YSRCP leader Vidhyasagar and, under political pressure, created false documents and records and registered cases against Jethwani and her family. Following the allegations becoming public, the government took action against the officials. P. Sitaramanjaneyulu, who was also suspended in the case, retired in August. The government has now revoked the suspensions of Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni.
