SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, is moving closer to creating history in the space industry. Since the beginning of the space age in 1957, countries and organizations worldwide have collectively launched around 15,062 satellites into orbit. Remarkably, SpaceX alone has launched nearly 14,844 satellites, primarily through its Starlink project aimed at delivering internet connectivity to remote parts of the world. With another 200 satellites, the company is expected to become the largest satellite-launching organization in history.
At the same time, SpaceX is developing the world’s largest rocket system, SpaceX Starship, to further boost its launch capabilities. However, astronomers have expressed concerns that the rising number of Starlink satellites may affect deep-space research, including studies related to black holes and distant galaxies. Experts also warn about increasing orbital congestion and space debris. Meanwhile, India continues to strengthen its space research capabilities, with official reports stating that 86 Indian satellites are currently in orbit, of which 27 remain operational across communication, navigation, Earth observation, and scientific missions under Indian Space Research Organisation.
