Why Is Maruthi Taking So Long to Arrive?

The Tollywood race for Sankranti 2027 has already started, even though 2026 still has four months remaining. Several big-ticket projects, including Chiranjeevi-Bobby’s Mega 158, Nagarjuna’s King 100, Ravi Teja’s project with Vishnu and Hasith Goli, the Venkatesh-Kalyan Ram-Anil Ravipudi film and Sharwanand-Srinu Vaitla’s project, are reportedly progressing at a brisk pace.

In contrast, director Maruthi’s Happy Pongal appears to be moving slowly. The film was earlier reported to be planned as a Sankranti-season release, but there has been no major official update so far. With competing projects already underway, industry observers believe the Happy Pongal team may need to begin shooting soon and accelerate production to remain in the festival race. Following the outcome of Raja Saab, attention is now on how quickly Maruthi’s next project takes shape.
