Shortage of 2,000 Conductors Disrupts TGSRTC Services Across Telangana

The shortage of nearly 2,000 conductors in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has significantly affected bus services across the state. According to available information, around 300 regular routes are facing operational disruptions, with several buses remaining idle at depots due to the lack of conductors. The shortage has impacted transportation to nearly 650 villages and hamlets, particularly in tribal and remote regions where public transport is the primary mode of travel.

Major routes, including Nizamabad–Armur–Karimnagar, have also been affected, forcing many commuters to depend on autos and private jeeps. While the corporation has been appointing conductors through outsourcing, the arrangement has reportedly failed to bridge the staffing gap. With no large-scale regular recruitment reportedly conducted since the last appointments around 13 years ago, concerns continue to grow over the impact of staff shortages on public transport services.
