Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to address the media from New Delhi through a virtual interaction on Wednesday. According to reports, the interaction is likely to focus on her future political plans, the situation in Bangladesh, and the possibility of her return to the country. It will be her first media address since leaving Bangladesh following the political unrest that led to her departure.
Reacting to the planned interaction, Bangladesh's government said it values its friendly relationship with India and hopes bilateral ties will remain unaffected. Officials stated that Dhaka has previously conveyed its concerns to New Delhi regarding political statements made by Awami League leaders from outside Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government has also announced restrictions on the publication and broadcast of Sheikh Hasina's speeches, interviews, and audio or video messages within the country. Meanwhile, India's Ministry of External Affairs clarified that it has no connection with the proposed media interaction and said it is being organised by a private media platform.
