Release Irrigation Water to Jurala Ayacut Farmers Immediately - Harish Rao

BRS legislature party deputy leader T Harish Rao criticised the Telangana government, alleging that it was failing to provide irrigation water to standing crops while taking action against opposition leaders and farmers protesting over the issue. He questioned why water was not being released to Jurala ayacut farmers despite water being available in the project and demanded immediate release of irrigation water. His remarks came amid protests by farmers and BRS leaders seeking water for crops, with police stopping several protesters from reaching the Jurala project.

Harish Rao questioned why Krishna River water was being taken to Kuppam, around 738 km from Srisailam, while farmers in neighbouring Palamuru were allegedly being denied irrigation water. He also questioned the utilisation of the Narlapur, Yedula, Karivena and Vattem reservoirs under the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, which he said together have a capacity of 50 TMC. He alleged that the government had failed to operate pumps despite sufficient river flows and criticised the police deployment around Jurala and the detention of protesters.
