CJP founder Abhijit Deepke on Tuesday demanded that education department officials be required to send their children to government schools. He suggested that ministers and political leaders send their children to rural government schools for at least a day to understand the difficulties faced by students who travel long distances to attend classes. Deepke criticized the Maharashtra government for failing to provide adequate transport facilities to students in rural areas. He launched the ‘Improve Schools’ campaign last week to highlight issues affecting government education.
Speaking to the media in Limbala in his home district of Hingoli, Deepke said he would have no objection to contesting the Lok Sabha election from Hingoli if government schools were improved. Earlier, he had posted a video showing the headmaster of a Zilla Parishad school in a village allegedly sleeping inside a classroom after consuming alcohol. Following the incident, authorities suspended the teacher on Tuesday.
