Preparations Begin at Tank Bund for Ganesh Immersion

Preparations have begun at Tank Bund near Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad ahead of the grand Ganesh immersion. Fifteen cranes were installed on Tank Bund on Tuesday to facilitate the immersion of Ganesh idols. Earlier, GHMC officials had put up flexes, posters and barricades stating that immersion would not be permitted on Tank Bund. However, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi demanded that idols be immersed in Hussain Sagar as in previous years. On Monday, representatives of the organisation reached Tank Bund and removed the flexes and barricades put up by government departments, leading to tension at the site.

Following the developments, GHMC began making arrangements on Tank Bund for the immersion process. With a large number of idols expected to arrive on September 25 for the Maha Nimajjanam, 15 cranes have been installed to facilitate the proceedings. Representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi said the arrangements would help ensure that the immersion takes place without disruptions. Officials indicated that permission for idol immersion from Tank Bund could be granted from Wednesday or Thursday. Meanwhile, immersions have been taking place at NTR Marg and People’s Plaza since the day after Vinayaka Chavithi.
