A severe heatwave is sweeping across India, with several states recording extreme temperatures. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, advising them to stay hydrated and avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours. He also emphasized the importance of taking care of the elderly, staying alert to extreme weather conditions, and helping those in need. The Prime Minister further encouraged people to keep water outside homes and shops for birds and animals.
He also warned against ignoring symptoms of heatstroke such as dizziness, nausea, and fatigue, urging immediate action if someone appears unwell or unconscious. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued severe heatwave conditions in several regions, including Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, with some areas expected to receive relief through rainfall later this month.
