Speculation over a leadership change in Karnataka has intensified, with reports suggesting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah may resign on Thursday. Congress sources indicate that the new Chief Minister could take oath on May 30. The leadership transition is being closely managed by the Congress high command to avoid internal conflicts, as Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar have long been seen as contenders for the top post.
According to party sources, Siddaramaiah is expected to meet the Governor after hosting a breakfast meeting with cabinet colleagues. Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar is likely to return from Delhi and meet the Chief Minister. Other names, including G. Parameshwara, are also being discussed for the top post. While DK Shivakumar has reportedly demanded adherence to a prior power-sharing agreement, Siddaramaiah is said to have suggested consideration for leaders representing key social groups. The situation is expected to become clearer after high-level discussions.
